Former U.S. President Barack Obama keeps making waves on social media in his post-presidency, this time getting a photo of former First Lady Michelle Obama on the top deck of a yacht. Twitter was having a good-natured laugh at Barack using his iPad to get Michelle’s photo at a good angle, some calling him an “Instagram husband” and “cute”. Both were sporting very casual wear; Michelle was in a pair of white shorts, a black tank top, and with loose hair that’s become more common post-White House, while Barack wore beige pants and sunglasses. The pair were spending Friday morning on the luxury vessel of either musical executive David Geffen or Oracle CEO Larry Ellison; the owner hasn’t been confirmed yet. The yacht was parked off the Tahitian island of Mo’orea, so the Obamas decided to spend a couple of hours aboard the ship.
The couple have been in French Polynesia for more than three weeks, and have hung out with rocker Bruce Springsteen, actor Tom Hanks, and television icon Oprah Winfrey during their South Pacific vacation. According to Tahitian news, the Obamas, Springsteen, Hanks and Winfrey all had lunch together Monday, a couple of days after the yacht sighting. They stopped at Le Taha’a Island to eat before the Obamas headed for Bora Bora. Reports are that the couple will end up at Brando resort and that Barack is planning to work on his memoirs there for the next several weeks.
This is par for the course for the Obamas after finishing up their White House stay in January. Since then, the couple has also dined with U2 frontman Bono after watching a Broadway play, while Barack has visited California to play on some of the finest golf courses he couldn’t frequent as President. The last time the Obamas went viral was when Barack was snapped kitesurfing with technology mogul Richard Branson on a private Caribbean island.
