According to New York City police, a man wearing a bulletproof vest with multiple hidden knives and a weighted sock tried to enter Trump Tower in the Big Apple at around 4 PM on Thursday with the purpose of finding Ivanka Trump, the daughter and a close adviser of U.S. President Donald Trump. 52-year-old Sixto Adames Benitez reportedly told Secret Service agents that he was a U.S. Senator who owned a stake in the property and wanted to talk about “dresses” with Ivanka Trump. The Secret Service and New York City police promptly removed the man from the area and took him to Weill Cornell Medical Center, where he was placed under psychiatric evaluation due to “exhibiting behavior of an emotionally disturbed person.” Police also later found that he was carrying a forged identification card. He was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a weapon and one count of possession of a forged instrument.
Ivanka Trump was not in the building that day, as she is currently accompanying her father on an official trip to Europe that currently finds them at the G20 summit in Germany after an eventful couple of days in Poland. Ivanka Trump actually spends little time at Trump Tower these days, as she moved with her husband, White House Senior Advisor Jared Kushner, to Washington, D.C. earlier this year.

Similarly, Melania Trump, the wife of the President, only stayed in Trump Tower for the first months of Donald’s presidency before moving to Washington, D.C. recently. That being said, Secret Service detail remains stationed at the building due to constant protests from anti-Trump demonstrators. Congress reportedly allocated almost $60 million towards Secret Service stationing at the building.
