Aaron Hernandez was found dead in his prison cell today just days after being found not guilty for a double homicide. Hernandez was however serving a life sentence for the First Degree murder of Oden LLoyd. Reports state that Hernandez jammed the entrance to his cell and hung himself with a sheet from the window in his cell. Emergency procedures were attempted on Hernandez and he was transferred to the hospital , but he died at 4:07 am. It is unquestionably a sad end to a once promising career.
Below is a statement from The Massachusetts Department of Correction
“On April 19,2017 Aaron Hernandez was discovered hanged in his cell by corrections officers at the Souza Baranowski Correctional Center in Shirley Massachusetts at approximately 3:05 a.m., lifesaving techniques were attempted on Mr. Hernandez and he transported to UMASS Leominster where he was pronounced dead at 4:07 a.m. by a physician at the hospital. Mr. Hernandez was in a single cell in a general population housing unit. Mr. Hernandez hanged himself utilizing a bedsheet that he attached to his cell window. Mr. hernandez also attempted to block his door from the inside by jamming the door with various items. The Massachusetts State Police are on the scene and the investigation continues. Mr Hernandez’s next of kin have been notified”
Authorities are saying that there was no suicide note found.
Aaron Hernandez was drafted by the New England Patriots as a highly talented tight end coming out of the University of Florida. Despite red flags in his college career, The New England Patriots drafted Hernandez.
The sports world was shocked when Hernandez was implicated in the murder of his friend Oden Lloyd in 2013. He was later found guilty of the murder of Oden Lloyd. The sports world was shocked further when Hernandez was implicated another double Murder which he was just acquitted form.
